About Dr. Fouke
Sarah J. Fouke, M.D., was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She attended John Burroughs High School before completing her undergraduate degree at Princeton University. Dr. Fouke then returned to St. Louis, where she completed medical school and a subsequent residency in neurological surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. She was the first woman to graduate from the WUSM neurosurgery residency program. Dr. Fouke complete a fellowship in neurosurgical oncology and was on the faculty at Washington University until 2008.
Dr. Fouke’s career took her to Seattle, Washington where she practiced at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute. She continued her research, receiving a RO1 from the NIH, focusing on imaging markets of therapeutic efficacy. In 2015, Dr. Fouke was pleased to return to her hometown, where she has a practice that focuses on degenerative spinal conditions, but also includes the care of cranial disorders including tumors and hydrocephalus.
Dr. Fouke prioritizes an individualized approach to each patient, with a focus on comprehensive care. While she thoroughly enjoys bringing her patients relief from their neurological conditions with surgical interventions, her goal is to approach care as a team, in a conservative and collaborative way, ensuring that her patients and their families fully comprehend their options as they navigate their care.
Outside of work, Dr. Fouke is married with three children. She enjoys running, reading, and traveling with her family.
